TB&TBEbookCover About THE BEAU & THE BELLE
Beau Fortier starred in most of my cringe-worthy teenage fantasies.
I met him when I was a junior in high school, a time that revolved exclusively around bad hair, failed forays into flirting, and scientific inquiries into which brand of toilet paper worked best for stuffing bras.
That is, until Beau moved into the small guest house just beyond my bedroom window.
A 24-year-old law student at Tulane, Beau was as mysterious to me as second base (both in baseball and in the bedroom). He was older. Intimidating. Hot. Boys my age had chicken legs and chubby cheeks. Beau had calloused hands and a jaw cut from steel. Our interactions were scarce—mostly involving slight stalking on my end—and yet deep down, I desperately hoped he saw me as more of a potential lover than a lovesick loser.
Turns out, I was fooling myself. My fragile ego learned that lesson the hard way.
Now, ten years later, we’re both back in New Orleans, and guess who suddenly can’t take his eyes off little ol’ me.
My old friend, Mr. Fortier.
But things have changed. I’m older now—poised and confident. My ego wears a bulletproof vest. The butterflies that once filled my stomach have all perished.
When I was a teenager, Beau warned me to guard my heart.
Let’s hope he knows how to guard his.

Review

Rachel has been one of my favourite authors of the last two years. I’ve loved every single one of her books one way or another. That being said I was beyond excited to get this review copy. The Beau and the Belle is the latest romance by R.S. Grey, the book starting in Beau and Lauren’s past, 10 years in the past to be exact. Beau moves into the apartment that Lauren’s parents rent out on their property. Beau is a law student at Tulane, Lauren is a high school senior at one of the local private schools.
They start getting along and while Lauren’s crushing on Beau big time, the age gap is preventing anything from happening between the two of them. Then Hurrican Andrea happens and all of New Orleans is evacuated. Both their schools are ruined by the hurricane and they have to head off to different schools meaning they don’t see each other anymore.

Ten years later we meet up with Lauren who is going to open her own art gallery/coffee house in New Orleans after studying Art History and working in NYC. While at one of her parent’s parties she runs into Beau Fortier again. Beau started his own company which finances people that were hit by Hurricane Andrea in New Orleans. While Lauren is seeing her old crush from high school, the two of them can’t seem to stay away from each other. Lauren who is now 28 is no longer a child and Beau can’t seem to stay away from her any longer.

I have to say that from the very first start that I loved this book. Rachel has had a place in my heart from the very first book I read (The Duet back in August 2015), this book made sure I renewed that love. I love the whole forbidden love story line and this one was no different. While nothing really happens when they’re younger, I knew that as soon as they were older it would happen like fireworks. Beau’s mother is such a funny character and I was with her on the fact that Lauren and Beau just belonged together!

I recommend this to anyone who’s in for a fun, entertaining, beautiful story which takes place in New Orleans. The book read like a movie, I finished it too quickly but I loved it so much that I couldn’t stop reading it in the first place. Beau and Lauren stole my heart and I want to read more about them. However the book had a good ending which left me satisfied so well! ❤ Is it time for the next book yet?
