About AS DUST DANCES:
Once upon a time Skylar Finch was the lead singer of a hugely successful American pop-rock band. But fame made her miserable. When years of living a lie suddenly ended in tragedy, Skylar fell off the map.
Eighteen months later she’s sleeping in a tent in a cemetery in Glasgow, making just enough money to eat by busking on the streets. She manages to avoid recognition, but not the attention of one of Glasgow’s ambitious A&R executives.
Killian O’Dea works at Skyscraper Records, Scotland’s most successful record label. Raised by his uncle and owner of the label, Killian’s upbringing would have been devoid of affection entirely if it wasn’t for his loving sister. Killian is unflinchingly determined to bring the label more success than ever, and the young homeless woman who busks on Buchanan Street is going to help him do that. Her music speaks to him in a way he refuses to over-analyze. All he knows is that if it can touch his dark soul, it’ll set everyone else’s alight.
Skylar makes it clear that she doesn’t want to sign with him. But when she experiences the dangerous reality of a woman sleeping rough, Skylar has no one else but Killian to turn to. An undeniable connection forms between them. But Skylar doesn’t want the career Killian is trying to forge for her, and when her past comes back to haunt her Killian will be faced with a decision that could ruin him. My Review

As Dust Dances was one of my favourite reads this summer, yes that’s how I’m going to start this review off. Samantha Young has been amongst my favourite authors since I first picked up On Dublin Street back in 2015. After reading Play On I was so excited when I found out that Samantha was coming out with another book in the series.

As Dust Dances tells the story of Skylar Finch who after  tragic event in her life quite her band and music career and hides on the streets of Glasgow, making money with busking around the city. One day she’s approached by Killian O’Dea, who has recognized her and offers her a record deal with his label. Skylar was set on never returning to that world, but when she is robbed and hurt does she have any other choice but to say yes?

I loved this book, it had the usual amount of romance and wit that Samantha’s books carry and it made me fall in love all over again with another hot Scot. I flew through this and when I finished I wanted to read it all over again.

If you have the chance to pick up this book, please do, you won’t regret it!

Review:

While reading the Bennett family series, I loved getting snippets of the Connor family. Especially where Landon would come to family gatherings.
This book tells the story of Landon and Maddie. Landon lost his wife four years ago and since then has lost himself in his job.
Maddie owns a landscaping business and is working on Landon’s sister Val’s yard when Landon arrives for a two week vacation.
It doesn’t take long for them to hit it off and oh. my. god. was it a whirlwind!

Layla does an amazing job making you fall in love with all of the characters. She did so with her other series, which books I devoured every single time they’d be released and I have a feeling the same will happen with this new series.
I loved having the characters from the other books appearing in this book, it was nice not to have to say goodbye to the Bennett family just yet.

Layla, thank you again for another perfect romantic read. Is it time for book two yet?

TB&TBEbookCover About THE BEAU & THE BELLE
Beau Fortier starred in most of my cringe-worthy teenage fantasies.
I met him when I was a junior in high school, a time that revolved exclusively around bad hair, failed forays into flirting, and scientific inquiries into which brand of toilet paper worked best for stuffing bras.
That is, until Beau moved into the small guest house just beyond my bedroom window.
A 24-year-old law student at Tulane, Beau was as mysterious to me as second base (both in baseball and in the bedroom). He was older. Intimidating. Hot. Boys my age had chicken legs and chubby cheeks. Beau had calloused hands and a jaw cut from steel. Our interactions were scarce—mostly involving slight stalking on my end—and yet deep down, I desperately hoped he saw me as more of a potential lover than a lovesick loser.
Turns out, I was fooling myself. My fragile ego learned that lesson the hard way.
Now, ten years later, we’re both back in New Orleans, and guess who suddenly can’t take his eyes off little ol’ me.
My old friend, Mr. Fortier.
But things have changed. I’m older now—poised and confident. My ego wears a bulletproof vest. The butterflies that once filled my stomach have all perished.
When I was a teenager, Beau warned me to guard my heart.
Let’s hope he knows how to guard his.

Review

Rachel has been one of my favourite authors of the last two years. I’ve loved every single one of her books one way or another. That being said I was beyond excited to get this review copy. The Beau and the Belle is the latest romance by R.S. Grey, the book starting in Beau and Lauren’s past, 10 years in the past to be exact. Beau moves into the apartment that Lauren’s parents rent out on their property. Beau is a law student at Tulane, Lauren is a high school senior at one of the local private schools.
They start getting along and while Lauren’s crushing on Beau big time, the age gap is preventing anything from happening between the two of them. Then Hurrican Andrea happens and all of New Orleans is evacuated. Both their schools are ruined by the hurricane and they have to head off to different schools meaning they don’t see each other anymore.

Ten years later we meet up with Lauren who is going to open her own art gallery/coffee house in New Orleans after studying Art History and working in NYC. While at one of her parent’s parties she runs into Beau Fortier again. Beau started his own company which finances people that were hit by Hurricane Andrea in New Orleans. While Lauren is seeing her old crush from high school, the two of them can’t seem to stay away from each other. Lauren who is now 28 is no longer a child and Beau can’t seem to stay away from her any longer.

I have to say that from the very first start that I loved this book. Rachel has had a place in my heart from the very first book I read (The Duet back in August 2015), this book made sure I renewed that love. I love the whole forbidden love story line and this one was no different. While nothing really happens when they’re younger, I knew that as soon as they were older it would happen like fireworks. Beau’s mother is such a funny character and I was with her on the fact that Lauren and Beau just belonged together!

I recommend this to anyone who’s in for a fun, entertaining, beautiful story which takes place in New Orleans. The book read like a movie, I finished it too quickly but I loved it so much that I couldn’t stop reading it in the first place. Beau and Lauren stole my heart and I want to read more about them. However the book had a good ending which left me satisfied so well! ❤ Is it time for the next book yet?

Goodreads summary
Reed Hopewell is a lot of things to a lot of people… To his parents, he’s the son who needs to get serious. To his friends, he’s the player they all want to be. And to his fans, he’s the hottest rocker in Charleston. But never has Reed been anyone’s hero-until the night he finds Hope.
Hope Dawson can count the number of men she trusts on one hand. Definitely not the guys she goes out with or the stepfather who treats her like property. She’d be out of his house tomorrow if not for the need to protect her little sister. But when things at home go from bad to worse, Hope has to act fast-and Reed is the only person she can turn to…

Review
This book.. I knew I was going to like it from the moment I opened it up. I don’t know what it is, but I am just in love with books that fit into this category. They’re fast easy reads, they tell great stories and above all, they make you fall in love with all of the characters in it. This book was no different. It was fun, it was heartbreaking and I couldn’t help but start to love all of the characters in it.

Let me start at the very beginning. We meet Reed who is getting ready to give the show of a lifetime at a club in Charleston. He is a singer/songwriter who hopes to make it big one day, but during the day works in his father’s company. His father hopes that Reed will take over one day or run it with his sister, Aston, but Reed has different dreams. Reed has no intentions on settling down any time soon and has never had a serious girlfriend who was able to change his mind. Then we meet Hope, who appears to be on a date with a guy. She is in the club that Reed performs in and after the performance her date is set to go home, with her. But Hope has no intentions on going with the guy. Things happen and in the end Reed saves Hope from the creeper. While you never expect the story behind Hope’s horrific night, it brings in so much drama and therefore you want to know more, you want to know what happens with Hope, what happens with Reed and even what is going to happen to Hope’s little sister Violet and if Hope is able to get Violet away from her mother and stepfather.

What I love about this book is that Diana was able to create so much drama and heartbreak in just 70,000 words. The story pulls you in, you’re hooked from the very first page and I wasn’t able to put the book down very easily. Which then resulted in me having short nights before a long day at work! Even though I’ve been reading a lot of New Adult books the last couple of months, I love when a story is set apart from the rest of the books I’ve been reading. Diana was able to make me fall in love with Nelson Island (and the people on it 😉 )

This book, for me, got a big five out of five stars. The story intrigued me, it made me cry, hold my breath and make me want to keep reading all night long. While I wasn’t able to post my review on Amazon, due to me not having an active buying account there, I will post this here and on other platforms. Diana, thank you for writing this book and I can’t wait to dive into Sam/Aston’s and Hunter/Ever’s story!

xoxo Daph
