Saved by the SEAL is the newest release by author Diana Gardin. I had the privilege to receive an ARC copy for this. Saved by the SEAL is the second book in the Battle Scars series, Last True Hero being the first (which I also received as an ARC). I am going to try and keep this review as spoiler free as possible because I don’t want to spoil anything!
Saved by the SEAL features Greta and Grisham, both of whom we’ve met in the first book. If you have read the first one and can’t remember who they are. Grisham was Berkeley’s childhood friend (and arranged-by-their-parents-fiance) and Greta was Berkeley’s old roommate before Berkeley moved in with Dare. Grisham is a SEAL, but after having lost his lower leg in a bombing in Syria he is about to leave the Navy and he has returned to his beach house. When he sees a woman nearly drowning he doesn’t hesitate but dive into the water to rescue her. It turns out to be Greta, his best friend’s ex-roommate and his long time crush. Greta who is about to turn his life upside down.
Greta has always been crushing on Grisham but never did anything about it because of what he meant to Berkeley. But surely now that Berk is so happy with Dare, that means there’s a chance right? Grisham and Greta start out as friends but soon enough it appears that their attraction can’t be hidden any longer. Grisham feels he’s too messed up after everything that has happened to dump it all on Greta, but perhaps it is Greta’s turn to save Grisham’s life this time round.
Diana Gardin, as I’ve said before, is one of the nicest people that I’ve been allowed to meet in the last year and a half since getting more serious about my book blogging and other means. Her books pull you into the storyline so quickly that before you know it you’re in so deep that you won’t be able to get out before finishing the book. This one not being any different! The story of Grisham and Greta was such an amazing one. Lately I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy books and getting away from that and losing myself in a romance was just what I needed at the time.
Grisham and Greta were a whirlwind from the get go and that’s just how I like it. It’s the kind of romance that makes you root for them without worrying about anything that’s going to go wrong, because how can that not happen? I like reading about men in uniform. Greta who had her own problems with a dad that lived for his job and a mum and sisters that needed her help. Grisham who wanted nothing more than his mother to be safe and for his dad to somehow stop being a pain in the neck (yeah right, like that was going to happen). Greta and Grisham were two of my favourite side characters in the first book in the Battle Scars series and I was SO pumped when I found out that they were going to have their own book. I was wondering what would happen to Grisham now that Berkeley was with Dare and would no longer be engaged to him as their parents had planned.
I love it when I can finish a book in a day, this one I finished in less than a day. I love my job where I’m allowed to read while the kids are in school or playing and doing arts and crafts, because that makes it that much easier to lose myself in a novel where I don’t want to get out off before finishing the very last page of it. This book was no exception to that fact, I finished this book on the last day of February and I wish I could return to the start without knowing what was going to happen and read it all over again!
Thank you Diana, for letting me read your book before the book has even been released, as always it is an honour to be part of the group of bloggers that are allowed to. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance, who loves men in uniform, who is in for a ride and who isn’t afraid of a little danger lurking around the corner! This book got a five out of five stars and it more than deserved it! I have no idea if there’s going to be another novel in this series, but I do hope so as I want to find out what happened between Mea and Drake and what will happen to either of them!
